Conditions
for customers:
Name suggestions for new species can only be accepted
with our company's application form and may not be considered with
insulting intentions. If a parasite or similar species is chosen,
the customer has to proof that the patron will not be offended.
A minimum deposit of 50% of
the value of the full package is required, which guarantees that the selected new species will be named after the customer's
suggestion and dedicated to the patron. The outstanding balance has
to be paid upon receipt of the printed article. Methods of payment:
cheque, cash, bank transfer or PayPal. The customer may remain anonymous.
For administrative and technical reasons, it may take up to 6 months
until a new species officially will be published.
The full package will include a certificate, an original reprint of the scientific
paper and the original scientific drawing or photograph. The copyright for the
drawing (or photograph) remains with the artist.
In case the concerning species is reported as a junior synonym
within the following 5 years after the publication, the customer
will be granted another new species of his choice and the same value,
subject to availability.
Conditions
for authors (scientists):
Every scientist describing a new species can take part,
amateurs and professionals.
To be registered with Speciesworld, new authors need at least two references from separate public
institutes, universities, societies, museums or other competent
authorities (e.g. departments for agriculture, environment, etc.). References should be addressed to Speciesworld and can be
accepted in English,
German or
Russian only.
Royalties for authors are subject to individual
contracts.
Professionals need to
proof permission by the employer or research-supervisor.
Publications generally have to be written at least in English
language. An abstract in English language alone is sufficient, if
the patron of the new species speaks German or Russian and this is
the main language of the publication. Publications in any other
language are subject to individual contracts, involving a bi-lingual
specialist to control the document. The linguistic as well as the
scientific accuracy and correctness of the publication are
responsibility of the author. Speciesworld reserves the right to
terminate any existing contract if the accuracy of the publication
is not sufficient.
New species submitted for patronage will be verified and may be
rejected without any specific explanation.
We encourage authors to transfer the holotype to a
public collection for preservation. Under no circumstances we allow
authors to offer type material to the customer, unless the customer
is a public collection or purchases it for a public collection.
Violation of this regulation will immediately terminate any existing
contract with both, the author and the customer and no refund will
be granted and the author will be permanently banned from the
register of Speciesworld. The author has the option to sell
specimens of the concerning species separately, which are not
registered in the original description and therefore not type
material. However, Speciesworld strongly discourages such deals and,
especially if this could limit the scientific value of type-series,
reserves the right to withdraw from an existing contract.
Authors producing a synonym will be banned from the
Speciesworld register if no reasonable explanation is submitted and
if no alternative species can be offered or, if already paid, the
author does not refund his royalties in full. In case of a second
synonym with Speciesworld, authors will be banned without further
reason for a minimum period of 10 years. In case of fraudulent
activity (e.g. purposely creating a synonym) Speciesworld will
terminate any existing contract, ban the author permanently from its
register and initiate legal action. |
